I think that is definitely the wrong title for this post. There was absolutely no potty training going on. Before you think "wow, that's fantastic the little one potty trained herself after watching her brother last week." That isn't what happened. Little Miss has always, always, drank very little (even as a premie newborn). Even today, we're lucky if she drinks 16 oz of fluid a day (usually just milk, however if she finishes all of her milk than we offer her water). I knew that today was going to be a bit of a challenge, since her diapers are usually pretty dry, even after three hours they are barely wet. However, she only peed four times today (twice on the floor, once in a cotton training pant and once in her nap diaper). I don't know how this is going to work. We offered her Pediasure (she loves the chocolatey flavor), we offered her juice, water with lemon, water without lemon, however she still barely drank anything all day. Her snacks consisted of high water content fruit (grapes, pineapple, Mandarin oranges, apples), plus whole wheat banana bread (to make her thirsty), and still very little pee. More importantly than the potty training, I'm beginning to have concerns about her kidneys. How can it be healthy to drink and pee so little?
Potty training is so much fun :/ My daughter is 2 and she goes about 5 times a day. I think they are so active that it is hard for them to stop and hydrate. You are probably doing the right thing and giving her lots of fruit. I know a lot of people like to use the naked method of potty training where they let their kid go around without any pants. Good luck!
