Cat in the Hat (Math) Snack

(4 Years)

I'm so glad that the Cat in the Hat has a red and white hat.  It lends itself to a wide array of snacks.  Sliced strawberries and sliced bananas layered on top of of one another. Strawberry and banana layered smoothies!  Silver dollar pancakes layered with sliced strawberries.  Yummmm!

Today's snack was the Cat's Hat using sliced strawberries and bananas.  Easy peasy.  Give each child a 4" skewer, six sliced strawberries and half of a sliced banana.  Invite the child to create an AB pattern, like the Cat in the Hat.  Sneaky math- heh heh heh. Look at that concentration.

While we were making these, Wild One said "he needs a face Mommy."  He's right, why didn't I think of that.  Quick think, think, think.  Yes!  Mini chips and the bottom of a banana will work in a pinch.

They made four of these!  The next time we make these, I'll make sure we have mini marshmallows in the house to use as a stopper, so that the fruit doesn't slide off the skewer so easily.  Happy snacking!
